When Mike decided he was going to propose to Sarah, he knew that asking while on a trip to Vegas would be a wonderful opportunity. It was to be a surprise except for the exceptionally large ring box that almost gave him away a number of times. She started to unpack the bags in the hotel room, something she never does. He tried to act nonchalant all the while worrying that she would spoil her big surprise any second. They went out for the evening, the box barely hiding itself in his jacket. Him sweating bullets every time she went in for an embrace. He managed to conceal the big obnoxious box until they were looking out at the view of the Strip. The perfect spot. He finds the perfect moment and then proposes to his perfect girl. Worth all that sweating. And here they are. Their wedding is set for August of 2016.
I met Mike and Sarah on a blistering hot evening at Gellatly Nut Farm in West Kelowna. We hid in the shade of the enormous nut trees, ventured into the tall sunlit grass and ended up at the shore of Okanagan Lake.
