Jill spent all her summers on the Sunshine Coast and Reece spent all his summers in the orchard. It only made sense to have a wedding that was a little of both. A little beach. A little orchard.
On July 4th two of the most lovely salt-of-the earth families combined. It was the ‘cooler’ day of the week forecasted to be only 31 degrees. But that’s fitting for a beach wedding, right?
Jill couldn’t have been more lovely in her sweetheart neckline gown with it’s deep plunging back, perfectly finished with a rhinestone belt and simply tied bow. She wore her grandmother’s opal necklace and a new eternity symbol bracelet that Reece gave her as a wedding day gift. She was a stunner, this is for sure. Her five attendants, all long-time girlfriends and family wore floor length navy blue flowing gowns that complimented each of them beautifully.
Reece looked unbelievably handsome in grey. A vest, suspenders and his cowboy boots, of course. His five attendants, his twin brother and four best guy friends wore charcoal and were quite dapper also. Jill crafted the boutonnieres herself made of cloth and burlap, a sweet twist on the classic.
The ceremony site was simply styled to focus on the natural elements, the shore of Wood Lake in Winfield. The families constructed wood benches from birch trees and strategically placed them in the shade. Buckets held babies breath that lined the aisle. Handmade fans and cold drinks were ready for the guests on arrival to tame the heat of the afternoon. Jill walked down the aisle with her Dad to a beautiful love song and Reece managed to hold it together.
The newlyweds wanted their portraits on the dock of the private beach and I have to say they are my favourite images of the day. They wore sunglasses and busted out the bubbly to celebrate. They had specially branded champagne: ‘I Do.’
I’m still in disbelief over the reception space. I think Jill could easily have a future in the wedding decor business if she wanted. I know both the bride and groom, their families and friends put in many hours to make this space incredible and it showed. It had to have been a labour of love and the creativity was impressive.
Here are just some of the highlights of their day. I hope you can feel the fun, laid-back atmosphere they created for their guests and bridal party.
Happy one week anniversary tomorrow Reece and Jill!!
